The Belmont Outreach Project

By beled | December 29, 2014

At the informal settlement of Jim se Bos in Philippi are more than 100 desperately poor children, ranging in age from 4 to 15. Seung Young Jung, a Korean missionary, has worked tirelessly to create the Hope Link Children’s Library and Garden at Jim’s, where the children are provided with a safe, loving haven and taught to read in English. They are also encouraged to attend school.

Through Christ Church in Kenilworth, David Leslie has had an involvement with this wonderful project. In the run up to Christmas, Wendy Bloomer took it upon herself to arrange donations of gift-filled shoeboxes to be collected for each of the children. The Belmont team delivered the gifts on 12 December and were rewarded with some very broad smiles!
